Description

pololu gear motor Pololu 12V Medium-Power 99:1 25D Metal GearmotorThis Pololu 25D gearmotor consists of a medium power, 12V brushed DC motor combined with a 99: 1 (98. 78: 1) metal spur gearbox. The gearmotor is cylindrical, with a diameter just under 25mm, and the D shaped output shaft is 4mm in diameter and extends 12. 5mm from the faceplate of the gearbox. This Pololu 25D gearmotor consists of a medium-power, 12V brushed DC motor combined with a 99:1 (98.78:1) metal spur gearbox. The gearmotor is cylindrical, with a diameter just under 25mm, and the D-shaped output shaft is 4mm in diameter and extends 12.5mm from the faceplate of the gearbox.

In general, these kinds of motors can run at voltages above and below their nominal voltages (they can begin rotating at voltages as low as 1V); lower voltages might not be practical, and higher voltages could start negatively affecting the life of the motor. This motor will run at 6V but is intended for operation at 12V.

We also stock low-power and high-power versions of this motor. You can find our entire range of motors here.

Note: Stalling or overloading gearmotors can greatly decrease their lifetimes and even result in immediate damage. The listed stall torques and currents are theoretical extrapolations; units will typically stall well before these points as the motors heat up. The recommended upper limit for continuously applied loads is 4 kg⋅cm (55 oz⋅in), and the recommended upper limit for intermittently permissible torque is 8 kg⋅cm (110 oz⋅in). Stalls can also result in rapid (potentially on the order of seconds) thermal damage to the motor windings and brushes; a general recommendation for brushed DC motor operation is 25% or less of the stall current.

Dimensions

The downloadable diagram shows the dimensions of the 25D line of metal gearmotors (units are mm over [inches]).

Warning: Do not screw too far into the mounting holes as the screws can hit the gears. We recommend screwing no more than 6mm into the screw holes.

Gearmotor accessories

  • Gearmotor Face Plate - The gearmotor face plate has two mounting holes threaded for M3 screws. You can use our custom-designed 25D metal gearmotor bracket to mount the gearmotor to your project via the mounting holes and the screws that come with the bracket.
  • Universal Mounting Hubs - The 4mm diameter gearbox output shaft works with Pololu multi-hub wheels. That shaft also works with the Pololu universal aluminum mounting hub for 4mm shafts, which can be used to mount our larger Pololu wheels (60mm-, 70mm-, 80mm-, and 90mm-diameter) or custom wheels and mechanisms to the gearmotor’s output shaft.
  • Scooter Wheel Adapters -  You can use our 4mm scooter wheel adapters to mount many common skateboard, inline skate or scooter wheels to the gearmotor’s output shaft.
  • 12mm Hex Wheel Adapters - For a general-purpose hex adapter, consider our 12mm hex wheel adapters which lets you use this motor with many common hobby RC wheels.
  • Wild Thumper Wheels - These motors also work with the hex adapters included with the 120mm-diameter Wild Thumper wheels

Great for big chewers
My dogs have to have these. Have to. When I come home from work they each grab one and prance around like they just caught a moose or something. This past weekend my big boy doodle wanted me to toss it to him like I do his tennis ball. He kept dropping it for me to toss. It was hard explaining that it would be the worst boop he ever felt. Ok, lets talk about longevity. I've had these for over a month and they still look great. Barely looked chewed at all. These are tough and poodles supposedly have soft mouths but mine chew on these a lot. They are large. My female is 60 pounds and my Dood is 90. These chew toys keep my pets engaged when I am busy doing all the things at home so that takes some pressure off of me. I would buy them again for sure.

It's indestructible because your dog won't touch it.
It's made of hard plastic and has a weird odor. Both of my dogs just looked at it, smelled it and walked away.

Great Teething Toy for an Active Puppy
Our 6-month-old Goldendoodle has really enjoyed chewing on these rings. They’ve been especially helpful while she’s been teething, and so far she hasn’t made a dent in them, which is impressive given how much she chews. There’s clearly some sort of flavor or scent on the toy that makes it especially attractive to her, so it keeps her engaged much longer than some other chew toys we’ve tried. The rings feel durable, well made, and are a great way to keep an active puppy occupied. Highly recommend for teething puppies or dogs that are aggressive chewers.

Super hard plastic
This might be okay for big dogs but my little dogs are not interested at all. I’ve heard if you can’t make an indentation w/ your thumb nail, it’s too hard and your dog could chip or break a tooth…

My aggressive chewer had it roughed up in about 10 minutes, and she lost interest.
Both of my dogs were interested in these right away and started playing with them as soon as I gave them to them. After the first day though, they lost interest. They’ve had them for a couple of weeks now and I can’t really get them to go back to them. These aren’t squeaky toys, which is usually what they prefer, so that may be part of it. The size is decent and works for both of my dogs. My smaller dog isn’t much of an aggressive chewer, but she did chew on it some. My bigger dog is an aggressive chewer (about 85 lbs), and she had this one roughed up pretty quickly. After about 10 minutes, it already had some sharp, jagged edges. That makes me a little concerned about safety since it could scratch her mouth. As far as chew resistance and durability, it didn’t hold up the way I expected for something advertised for aggressive chewers. For value, it’s not the best considering how quickly it wore down and the lack of continued interest from my dogs.
